Title Fits the Book
Reviewed by: Rosalie Hudson (6/23/2004)
If you liked Carolyn Keene and you like Mary Higgins Clark, this book's for you. It is perfect reading during a plane ride, train ride, reading at lunch for several days or at bedtime. The author took me away to beautiful Vermont and I felt I was literally with them during the adventure. The ending is not at all what you might expect but definitely worth the read. Appears to be for teenagers and up.

Great Read

Not being an avid reader at all,( I only read when I have absolutely nothing else to do) I had planned that this book would be perfect to fill short periods of time. I started the book and finished it in one day...I could not put it down. I loved the mystery, but also the humor and personality that the author gives to the story. I am hoping she will have another out soon and with a continuation of the same main characters. They were great!!!

SUSPENSE & HUMOR
Reviewed by: Pam Rector (7/7/2004)
"Deadly Deceit" proves to be suspenseful and intriguing as Jesse Ryan and her two friends must solve the riddle of the enigmatic Vermont resort before their lives are forfeited. Humor, friendship, and fully realized characters make this first novel a real find. Readers of mysteries will warmly welcome talented new author Marilynn Giddens Battell.

Rationed it so it would last longer!

I enjoyed this tale of three great friends on an adventure, that almost cost a life or two. Even though I knew some of the characters personally, that did not influence my enjoyment. It was so well written that you wanted to keep turning the page. I did ration myself near the last as I didn't want it to end. This story has it all; intrigue, love, tragedy, friendship, and family.

LEAVES YOU WANTING MORE

Never been one to read much. This book has wet my appetite for more. This new author Marilynn Giddens Battell has an instinct about people that helps her capture their very essence. This quality has helped her mingle characters, and settings in such a way, that it puts the reader in the middle of this story of mystery, murder, humor, family and true loving friendships. Can't wait for the sequel. You go girl.

Great For a First Book
Reviewed by: Colleen Thomas (7/20/2004)
I read it in a day and found it hard to believe this is a first time author. The book is warm, filled with family, holidays, and friendship; there is also a dark side complete with murder, mayhem, and loss. Definitely worth the price. I bought at a book signing but my friends are having a problem finding it on shelves.

***** My daughter, Rebecca and I read this delightful book. The book was filled with such beautiful memories as we lived in Connecticut and travelled through Vermont on several trips. At one time my dream was to own a bed and breakfast, but hopefully you will write a sequel to this novel. I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that there was no violence or graphic language in the book. It reminds me of the Nancy Drew and Mary Higgins Clark novels. Keep on going Marilynn. Rebecca and Winnie Cross.

I truly loved the book. The story line was great. The only thing that was disappointing was that I read it in a day. Cannot wait until her next book comes out. Marilynn Giddens Battell is a wonderful writer whose words flow easily across the pages.

I am not a reader by far. I started this book on the day that we lost power from one of our many hurricanes this year. After the first 2 pages, I couldn't put the book down. I finished it that day. The characters were great, the story was awesome. I was so sure I knew who the bad guy was. Well, I was sadly mistaken. I am anxiously awaiting the next one!! Great Book!!!!!!
